1985 Defender 90 - Pickup - Restored, Galvanized, Diesel

Year: 1985
Model: 90
Configuration: Pickup
***For those of your interested in a Soft Top, I have a complete Safety Devices NAS-style external cage read to fabricate with Brian, a soft top, and 4 new jump seats for the rear.***
Engine: 2.5l NA Diesel
Transmission: 5 Speed LT77
Miles: 95,000 with about 3000 miles on the complete restoration

PRICE: $18,000 as a pickup; $23,500 as a soft top (about 4 week build time including shipping to and from Raleigh)
Location: Martha's Vineyard, but I will deliver to secure lot in Woods Hole to facilitate pickup or transport.

Original For Sale Thread: http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=53376 with about 100 photos. Condition has only improved.

Restoration Work - completed approximately 3000 miles ago.
-2.5NA Diesel rebuilt
-LT77 rebuilt unit
-Lockable rear storage, custom
-NO rust
-New springs
-New Shocks
-New galvanised frame with new stainless hardware throughout
-New clutch, new slave cylinder, new master cylinder
-New air intake assembly
-New fuel tank, gaskets, and lines
-New throttle cable
-New brakes and lines
-New marker lights
-New driveshafts
-Like New Marker lights guards and side steps
-New rims
-New Tires
-New Paint, matching inside and out. Complete respray.

Use: This is my daily driver during summer months on Martha's Vineyard. I have put 2,000 trouble free miles (26-28mpg) on her this summer since purchasing from Matt; my 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon saw less than 150 miles of use this summer. I depend on my car for making 5-10 house calls per day, and this car was an absolute blast to drive and a hit with the clients. I checked and change all fluids regularly.

Condition: Fully restored, ZERO rust on chassis, outriggers, footwells, and bulkhead. Mechanically working 100%. Door bottoms have bubbling with some rust debris that departs with door closure.

Work since owned:
-Radiator: I had the radiator recored, because it developed a leak where the electric fan mounts vibrated into the core. I then welded on a bracket to securely move the electric fan 3/4" away from the radiator to eliminate a mounting setup that required plastic clips running through the cores (see photos).
-Injection pump: As documented in a thread, I replaced several small parts from Delphi on the injection pump to eliminate leaks from the banjo bolts and head bolt.

Reason for sale: I have a 1993 110 restoration project and a 1994 conversion project in the works, both of which I would like to complete by June for island work. As such, I need to clear the plate and get to work.

PHOTOS: All sections to follow.

I am planning to ship this to NC on Friday for an NAS style soft top conversion. I am open to selling prior, but I will update with photos and new price post conversion.

Put 200 miles on her this weekend. Runs like a top. Prior buyer is a no show. Let me know if you need additional photos or want to hop over to the island. Free weekend at beach front, south shore, Edgartown great pond, house with purchase...4wd welcome.
