1985 Defender 110 3-door - Expedition equipped, not perfect

I am looking to sell my 1985 Defender 110, RHD, 200tdi.

The truck has received an extensive amount of attention but could still use a little bit more. I just drove this truck from Canada to Colombia. The truck is mechanically sound and ready to take you any distance around the globe. Currently located in Colombia, but can be shipped easily. I may continue traveling until it sells so it may end up further south. I am sure I am forgetting a lot of stuff that should be listed in an ad, but just ask questions and I will answer. I dont know what to list this truck at. I have no idea what a fair price is or what other trucks are selling for. I know what I paid to get it and what I put into it since then and believe my starting number is very fair.

I'll put it out there at $26,000. Will consider offers. I think I want to sell this ASAP.

Photos and build-up (three pages):

Problems-
Rust: Bulkhead near the windshield mounts is rusted. Drivers door frame bottom is rusted but the door is still very solid. Back door frame is gone, needs replacement ASAP. Frame is solid with the exception of a small hole near one of the outriggers. I don't know why it has a hole there when the rest of it is solid, but it does. Rear crossmember is rusted.

Heater controls not hooked up. Missing one of the little green clips to hold the cable. New style fan connector doesn't match old harness. Need to adapt or cut and splice.

Starter sometimes takes a few clicks to engage. I believe this to be a loose connection or bad ground. It started somewhere around Nicaragua, stopped shortly after, and has now returned in Colombia.

Body is dented in a couple areas and the inside has holes drilled int he tub for the cabinets. Truck is being sold as-is with pretty much all of the expedition equipment. I was planning on keeping my GPS stuff and jerry cans, small stuff, but they can be sold with the truck if necessary.

Speedo doesn't work after transmission install. I believe that it will be an easy fix but I haven't looked. All my mileage and speed is tracked by my GPS. Truck has roughly 152k miles on it now. I will have to go look and see what the exact figure is.

I have some stuff I need to take care of in the states and am unsure of how long I can continue to travel. If it doesn't sell I will just ship it back to the states with me and finish the restoration. It doesnt need much at this point.

It doesn't look like I can edit my first post anymore, but there are some mistakes. Transmission was replaced at 157k, not 150k. Truck currently has 159k miles on it. The only thing that really has that many miles is the body.

Price too high? Shipping costs troublesome? Need more specific photos?

I am open to feedback, preferably via PM so I dont get my feelings hurt too much. I know that if I put this on Craigslist or Ebay I will get 50 emails a day from morons. I don't want to deal with that if I can avoid it.

Price revised --> $19,000. Can deliver to Miami, Houston, or Savannah. I can also arrange to have the truck delivered to your doorstep for minimal cost, especially if you live in CA.

The cost of a 40' container from Cartagena Colombia is roughly $3000 to any of the US ports listed. This is cut in half for the buyer, since the truck will only occupy 1/2 of the container.

I am willing to work with the buyer on shipping and can very likely get this reduced further.

A container coming out of Columbia containing a vehicle for a first time importer is extremely likely to get taged for an intensive exam. Intensive exams cost approx $1800-$2000 depending on the port. Just a heads up as its a large expense you should be prepared for. You might get lucky and only get tagged for a VACIS (xray) but most likely both. sucks you are ending your trek. I have been following it from the begining.

I will bear any additional costs not quoted to the buyer. Thanks for the heads up and words about the trip. Ill be headed home in January and hope to continue the trip (in a different truck) in June 2012.

Unless you need the money to get back, you are much more likely to sell once it is safely stateside again.
