1985 110 tdi Diesel

Hello all,

Looking to sell my 1985 Defender 110 tdi. I've owned it since March and it's looking for a good new home. Runs and drives good, 3 door, RHD, 200tdi engine with just over 119,000 miles and 5 speed manual transmission. Everything on the truck is in working order except for the e-brake. Has minor oil leak from the oil pan gasket. Little to no rust on the truck. Interior floor boards are in good shape, firewall is in good shape, frame is lined with line-x. Bottom of all three doors is where you will find rust and just a hint of surface rust on the outrigger of the frame, otherwise no rust anywhere else. Clean Florida title in hand. 727-488-8002 Joe, $18,700 obo

It's possible the previous owner painted the dash, that's the way I bought the truck.

I'm not sure as to the exact height of the truck, but it's not lifted or altered in anyway, so it's standard height.

$14,500 Price drop...again. Must sell the Defender.

Dropped the price to a very attractive $14,500. For a running, driving, in good shape Defender 110 with a 200tdi engine, excellent price! First good offer takes her home. I'd be happy to send more pictures or answer any questions for anyone interested. Thanks.

Wow..

No disrespect to seller, but I registered after being a lurker just to reply on this..

Have had eyes and hands on your truck, I ask about what I saw.

Rusty frame with patches welded on.
Outriggers have perforated rust holes
Daylight can be seen through door gaps when doors closed.
Some kind of,patch panel on roof.

How can you say this is rust free?

If it is, wait a little longer. The price keeps dropping, it will soon be "free to good home".

So, it's a 29 yo UNRESTORED Defender and you mean to suggest that there is some rust?
I Think many of us have learned to look past the "puffery" involved in seller descriptions when it comes to unrestored Defenders.

I only am giving you a little teasing because you sorta lost me when you mentioned "daylight between door gaps" - don't all defenders have this feature?

LOL
It's only troublesome when pieces of the door start sprinkling onto the ground when opening and closing...

maybe I missed the part in the manual referring to side mounted aux ventilation system.

Ok, ok...you are correct. Just would hate to see somebody get burned too bad or walk into a mess. Caveat emptor and all that but a little disclosure helps that.

Even after I saw it I had to talk myself away from it. kinda like flirting with a chick that you keep telling yourself "She's not THAT fat". Once you see the mechanicals, your initial excitement wanes. Next thing you know you've got two kids. Or a Richards chassis on order.

Now that's funny!

Truth be told, there are a lot of relatively solid unrestored Defenders that have all of the aforementioned characteristics. My 110 was restored (frame off) in 2007 and frame has been patched in several places with no effort to hide the scars. Even now, one of my front outriggers has seen so many miles that road spray has media-blasted the metal so thin on the front facing edge that its going to be time for a new outrigger soon. I see slivers of daylight on the top edge off the door when its closed. Of course I'd like it to be tight, but it's a Defender. If I wanted solid tight door gaps so badly, I'd have gone the G-Wagon route.

I guess where I was going with all of this was that if you're expecting no air gaps, rattles or rust, then you have no business looking at any D-110 priced below $40,000, let alone priced below $18,000.

I understand why you'd jump on to save others the hassle (I have done the same), but I've also learned that folks (including the site team) like it more when you write something like "hey, I've seen this in person. If you're interested PM me"
It's not like you'll be crushed with 50 PMs. I did the same thing recently for a '93 RRC and replied to three folks and saved them a lot of time.
After all, whether we agree with the seller's description, price or whatever, it is his/her FS thread. Like I said, it's nothing I haven't done in the past.

All teasing aside, Welcome to DefenderSource and good luck hunting for your 110.

Was a buyer for this Defender. Had pictures of frame taken, it's seen pretty extensive repair in its day. Still a good deal but will likely need a frame swap in coming years. PM me for pictures if interested.
