Jay, how did you make out? Sold yet, or on loan to the film company?
Just curious, but also giving this a "bump" because it deserves more attention.

None of the above - I talked to the gal from the film company they were going to figure out what days worked for them and call me back - I sent her a couple emails and no response so much for making my car famous

and have received all sorts of wild offer as low as 15000 cash - 29000 - a trade for a 2009 Diesel Jetta - a 95 D-90 - a 99 D1 - all with some cash but still on the hunt for the right buyer

a guy called me yesterday from San Diego and said he is finally in a position to buy something like this - said he wants to come look this week - I'm not holding my breath - he either wont call back or he will come with 7500 dollars in his pocket.

Either way makes no difference to me - love the truck continue to drive it missed a piece of property in big bear but maybe was not meant to be - and we are still in the hunt

will be going to death valley in the next couple weeks if it does not sell

thanks for the bump - just looking for someone who appreciates the truck the way it is today

Yeah, it's funny how 90% of people say how much they love your Defender and how "they've always wanted one", then go on to apply retard math and speculate that they might pay $5,000-$10,000 for a Defender. Everyone wants one until they find out what it actually takes to drive one worth having. THis is one of the reasons I stopped takling to passerbys and random people about my truck.
You can almost anticipate the ignorant value comment coming well in advance. It gets old.

When I had a FS sign on the truck rolling around Nantucket in 2011, I had idiot wanna-be hedge fund managers asking me if it would fit in their office building's parking garage. I told more people "it's not the truck for you" than I did actually talk to people who appreciated it. Makes it harder now that people see pimped-out BLR/Liveridge examples (that have a 1% chance at clearing Customs) on eBay for $30,000 and they base their knowlege of value on stuff like that!

At least if you're selling a vintage (say 1980s) P-Car or F-car even the most ignorant admirers and buyers seem to know better than to suggest that they're worth $10,000. the non-initiated people seem to apply Jeep prices to Defenders.

I've seen the truck in person and the build thread on this site. Jay has more than money invested in this thing, as many of us do, he's got blood & sweat too. The truck is beautiful. I would trade him my 95 d90, but unfortunately he's made it too nice for my 90. I would love for the truck to be mine (in fact I currently have my 90 up on eBay to try to make that happen) but anyone looking for a 110 would be stoked with this truck.

he's the same guy holding a PBR or Miller Lite can and who rolled up in a clapped out 80s Bronco or something like that, right?

I deal with THAT guy constantly. What the guy is really saying is that he's insecure and doens't have the coolest truck at the campsite (or beach) and feels the need to tell you why he's smarter than you.

Ignorant people rule the earth, we all need to get used to it.

****EDIT*** It's the same dude that shows up at your house party and shits all over your neighborhood and claims "I could have bought this house or neighbor's house for $xxxxxxx, but I didn't think it was worth it"
I also learned that it is perfectly acceptable to answer all of THIS guy's questions with "it depends" or "I have no idea" until he decides that you are not worth talking to (which is....again....perfectly fine).

Your truck is badass. The right buyer will come, because it's worth every penny.

Jay,
Very cool house. To me it kind of screams for a defender with patina to go with it. That said I know how asset liquidation goes so we can move on to the next chapter in life. I have an offshore fishing boat I need to sell so I can completely rebuild my 1810 farm house.
Best of luck with the sale and bump to the top.

Jaspn is damn good or bad? Call me if you want to talk over some numbers but we are looking to get more action as 30000 seems to be just out of the budget of those I have talked to so I think 25000 will make it happen just sad to take out all the things that make it nicer to save a few dollars but we have a offer to put in and need to sell this before 2014
