1984 Land Rover 90

Just imported! I have an 84 Land Rover 90 for sale with a 200tdi. Truck is RHD and will be sold with a clear NC title ready to be transferred. Frame is very solid with no rust issues and has just been professionally waxoyled. Bulkhead had some light repairs to the upper section in between the vents and a little on the inside of the left side but is completely solid now and has no trouble spots. Engine has 30k on the rebuild and the transmission is an ashcroft LT77 that is 2 years old. Picked it up from the port last week and drove it back 5 hours at 70-75 and she ran like a top. Has 2 inch lift, shocks, rear cones, and some diff guards. Also has 4 like new rear jumps and seat covers on the front seats. This is a really nice truck that will not dissapoint.

Truck is located in NC
Asking: $14,900

Note: Sorry for the poor pics, I have the truck at a friends and have not gotten chance to take some good pics.

Probably has a late 83 build date.

2009 is only a few weeks away. I doubt customs really cares that much. How'd you get the build info?

EDit: never mind I figured it out!

What he said. I intended to wait until Jan. to ship her in but when I spoke to customs they said it would be absolutely no problem since it was close enough to 2009.

It is NICE - I've driven it

Hey Guys I can vouch that there is no problem with the title on an '84. You might remember that I brought in an '83 a "few" months early last year and everything went fine.

NOW, for this truck, I'd buy it in a heart beat if someone would just buy my '92 Porsche 911 cabriolet - come on - someone please buy my Porsche - just $17k)

I drove this truck recently for about an hour and that TDI engine pulls like a darn mule - no hesitations, no funny noises, no nothing but a good strong pull. I crept (idle pull) up a dirt hill in low and hit the freeway at 70 - no problem. I love it. Right hand drive which I personally prefer - it honors the truck's blood lines to me and is fun and easy to drive. The shifitng is really close but perfectly meshed. The body is in really good shape for an '84 and looks to need just a little TLC but nothing I saw an an immediate need.

All in all, if you are in the market, and can come drive this truck, you need to. Just be prepared to buy it cause once you hear and feel engine - its all over.

Regards, G

Thanks for the positive reinforcement Gavin. Having it sit over there at Marc's has been killing me so I am anxious to get it to the house. Of course that might make me drive it, which may lead to me wanting to keep it...

More pics... Please excuse the dog, she tends to be a camera hog.

There is no excuse for that dog.

Checked this out in person the other day, very cool truck. It runs great too, I was quite impressed overall.

Yup. You can bring in all kinds of good stuff once it hits 25 yrs.
The problem is, nobody really knows the value of a 1984 UK D90 imported into the US market. It will be fun to see how this all plays out in the next few years. I wonder who will pay 14,000 US$ for a 25 year old truck that sells in the UK for 3000-6000 US$.

I would be super tempted for a MINT condition diesel 110 if it could be had for 10,000 US$.

Good luck with that. If you find a 110 in mint condition for 10k I will take 5.

I hear ya on the 6k. The problem with that is a truck that is going to be that cheap will be in poor condition and then you still have to pay 1500-2000k to get it here. With these trucks you want to buy as much truck as you can afford b/c if you don't you will spend it tenfold fixing up some junk.

this looks like a neat rig. i think the value is in the diesel. a conversion is 15g all said and done, so, the question is whats cheaper, a dieselconversion of a decent d90nas, or a refurb and steering swap of this unit.

im thinking this unit is a better buy for the 3bannanna home mechanic to attack, than a diesel swap.

Bingo on the motor. It runs better than any tdi I have driven too. Keep in mind the truck has a great body and really just needs a few things to make it look ten times better. If I end up keeping it I am going to paint it and put a cage and softtop on it which would completely change the look...

I have a set of LHD outer knuckles and steering box and all brackets to convert a RDH truck to LHD if you sell it and someone is interested in the parts..

YOu would then need the heater parts and dash parts.

Newbie asks if there a website that returns build info if I input VIN info? Looking for build date plus registration date on a VIN I'm interested in.
