1984 Land Rover 110 LHD Pick-up 2.25L gas
I already had listed this in the flea section. Now it is time to move it to the for sale section.
Came across this almost perfect, 110 pick-up with a 2.25 gas engine. From the few LHD 110 out there in Europe there are hardly any pick-ups. This is only the third I found and for sure the best. Actually 110''s or 90's of this age and regardless of which model, hardly show up in this, almost perfect, condition.
The good :
- NO RUST
- never welded
- nice running 2.25 gas engine
- all original, 100 %
- drives likes it should drive, brakes, transmission, everything working.
- no weird noices, rattles or what so ever.
- interior nice.
The bad :
- old school gas engine. Never been converted for the use lead free gas. Needs additive or have the head modified.
- tail gate has some damage on the paint and small dents.
- odometer shows only 90 K miles, no records or proof this is correct. Given the condition of the car I would think this is the true mileage.
Maybe the pick up is not the most popular Defender model, but imagine taking the top and the canvas hood of and you have a perfect beach runner. Sits 7 and with two additional seats you can even have 11 people in this car.
If this was a five door, I would probably ask between $ 40-$ 50 K.
At this moment the car is still in Europe. IF you buy as-is, arrange import and transport yourself I am asking $ 19,500. Early next year I will bring it to MI but price will be higher.

Excellent underneath. Too bad it doesn't have another set of doors.

I have been told that there is a sizable duty on pick up trucks, specifically, something like 25=30%. Do you know if that is true?

this only applies to the big 18 wheeler trucks , for example a mercedes 18 wheeler truck imported into the country..

Only if those 18 wheelers are considered light trucks or commercial vans. But otherwise correct.

2.5% when they feel like it and $800 exemption on the value. Did you get this direct in St. Galen or did the dutch boys bring in to the low countries first.

It is a pick up but with seats in the back. So I would say this is a motor vehikel for transport of persons, so 2.5%
Some more info about the car after my own inspection:
- does have power steering
- service books until 132,800 km's (now 145,717 km)
- runs, drives very, very smooth , although not so much power I always loves these engines, so quite and so smooth.
- there is really NO rust on this car, not even a little bit, just nothing
- scratch, little / dent on passenger door.
- paint a little faded. Sure buffing will do good but I like it like this
- new starter
- interior very good, seats and head liner
- 4 benches in the back, can seat 8 there and 3 in the front.
This is really one of the nicest I have had. All original, nice patina and very, very condition .
Maybe not the most practical as a two door pick up, but can easily be modified in a full softtop 110, 2-door Beachrunner.
I will include all the hood sticks for this, only have to source a soft top.

Scratch is on driver side, not passenger door.

Car passed customs without a problem. Will be delivered tomorrow.
New price $ 24,000 including clear MI title.
Although I like the original cars, without too much work this can easily be modified in to something like this. (I stole this picture from the internet)
I can include a full frame for the soft top, the soft top itself and 4 benches in the back seating 8 people.
Against extra cost new Boost wheels with new tires and spacers.

If you buy it I will make it swing to any side you want. 😀
Now it only goes down

Some pictures in Michigan
- didn't mention it before but has a small dent on fender, see picture
- unfortunately got a scratch during transport on rear fender.
Took it for a 20 miles ride yester. After 6 weeks in a container it started right up. Drives really nice. And ones again, there is absolutely NO rust this car.

Bump,
Make me a reasonable offer.
Ps, unless mentioned in the first post, there has been a little welding done to the rear cross memes, looks really good.

This really is a great looking truck. Nice to see it in it's purest form. Wasn't it only the earliest 110's that had the silver/unpainted windshield frame? Did you happen to get a Heritage Trust Cert. for it? Just curious of the build date.
I wish you the best with the sale but I know I would struggle to let that go. As you mentioned it would be near impossible to find another so original.
