What's with the obsession with that gearbox? It sucks.

This was not meant in a snide way, but it is really not good at all.

I thought the Lt95 was supposed to be quite strong. I've only driven one and it definitely felt like a truck transmission but did not bother me.

I do like the tropical sun sheet on the defender roof, never seen that before.

Some people don't like the LT95 since it is always a bit noisy, even new ones are.... but then again, a Defender is never quiet inside at all ... The good thing is though , they are bullit proof !

To get a lower final drive the previous owner fitted an manual overdrive which works fine.

If the buyer of this rig prefers a 5 speed, we can fit one at extra cost.

The roof is a so called SAFARI roof as fitted on the Serie 2 and 3. The truck is really in excellent condition.

The car was located in Southern Spain and it was registered in Portugal. It is superb in every way. I have sold more than 80 Defenders in Europe in the past years, but never seen an 1984 with such a good chassis. Interior fully retrimmed, bare metal repaint inside / outside / engine bay with a rare Safari roof feature to keep it cool on those hot days, see pic below with the 4 ventilation holes.

You really get a very very good original LHD Defender 110 for this money...

I've never seen that on a 90 or 110 either. But it could be added with some work. Perhaps that was done @ the same time as the search lamp? Or maybe it is a Santana thing?

Problem is that AC is a difficult installation on the 3.5 V8, so the Safari roof is a great feature ....

Obviously the early Defender roofs are almost identical to the 109, this is the 1st Defender I see with this roof added...

I just noticed something in the photos.... the O/D shift lever is incorect for the Defender. The LT95 was used in Ranger Rovers in greater numbers. The O/D shifting mechanism for the RR is a different shape than for the Stage One or the 110.

With the proper lever, the O/D shift should come from the transmission tunnel and not the middle of the seat box. The proper shifting lever set up is hard to come by.

Functionally, it does not matter, though - pull lever - gear shifts. But it was just something I noticed.

Mike - not to sound fruity, but those have to be the bluest skies I have ever seen in the pics you posted on eBay...nice shots!

Also, one question - did you seal/paint the chassis on this with something? It looks nice, I've been contemplating doing something with mine to preserve it and liked the look of the chassis on this rig.

The skies in the majority of the country look (ours) like that. Problem is that the majority of the people live in areas that smog it up. I have to drive almost 100 miles west to see stars....

When living in Alaska I saw the northern lights all winter long and took it for granted (12+years). What I would give to see them again. I just dont plan to go back to Alaska during winter anytime soon...

Good luck with the sale Mike
