1987 Land Rover 109 Santana - Restored Turbo Diesel / 5-Speed
Something a little different this time. This is our most ambitious project to date, having spent nearly six months undergoing restorative work in Spain prior to export. More details below.
From Leon, Spain. Warwick Green, Nine-seater Series-III. 2.25L Turbo Diesel mated to a five-speed transmission. Good for about 70-MPH. Fresh paint, bodywork, mechanicals, rust-repair, upholstery, tires, etc.

1983 Land Rover 109 Santana Turbo Diesel
We bought this truck with the intention of bringing back a solid turbo-diesel with fresh bodywork. We had the graphics package removed and the body prepped and painted with a fresh coat, before sending it over to our mechanic for a once-over prior to export. His response was something akin to, "Beautiful truck. Shame about the rust." We were devastated. Turns out the floors and some of the outriggers had been rusted through and shoddily repaired. Rather than opting to sell a pig with lipstick, we went ahead and had our good friend Tom-the-German cut out and weld in all new replacement panels before sending it back to paint to touch up the new floors, bumpers, etc. We also had the front two rows of seats reupholstered along with new carpet. Tom also gave it a mechanical overhaul, changing fluids and totally rebuilding the turbo. The end product is something very unique.
Truck has dual fuel tanks from the manufacturer. About 72,000 original miles. Speedometer reads MPH and KPH. Interior seats nine, with freshly reupholstered seats across the front two rows in black vinyl with beautiful stictching. Five speed / turbo combination is good for about 70MPH, - maybe a tad more - with enough highway. I had it out for a couple hours this past weekend down in Richmond and hit 70 without stressing the engine. It's a rewarding truck to drive, but hey, I'm a bit biased.

New black carpet installed in the front, and fresh vinyl installed in the rear. Gauges and switches all work as intended, to include the spare-fuel tank switch which toggles between the main tank and the auxillary stored beneath the passenger seat.
Exterior: Fresh Warwick Green paint, the truck's original color, applied in August 2015. Rusty outriggers and floors were cut out and replaced with new metal sourced from Paddock Spares between August and November 2015. Four brand new tires were installed in late 2015 as well. Wheels and roof were painted and Alaskan White at the same time as the body.
Drivetrain: 2.25L Four Cylinder Turbo Diesel pulls strong, thanks in part to the freshly rebuilt factory turbo. Five speed transmission provides room to stretch your legs and hit 70MPH or so.

We've posted before, but to reintroduce ourselves: We've started a small vehicle importation company focused on bringing antiques back from Spain. It's a fun project that lets us see, touch, and drive some neat classic cars and trucks we might not otherwise have the opportunity to. We're a two man operation, with Paul based in Javea, Spain, and the other (me) here in Virginia. Our focus is to shed light on the otherwise murky process of bringing vehicles back from overseas and bring some honestly and transparency to the process. To that end, Paul works hard to document the process of finding the vehicle, capturing a story and photos on the trucks. We bring some transparency to bare by selling our trucks through a dealer. This truck is being offered by Japanese Classics, LLC in Richmond VA where it comes with a clear VA Title.
Our company is called Valencia Classic Vehicles. Our website is here:
