Roving Beetle. I have a green D-90 windscreen that looks like exactly the same color as that. I am sure modding the roof to fit it (or just get a Soft top) would be easier than getting a new wife.

LOL at "a new wife"..... that's not an easy or cheap conversion!

Aren't the D90 screens taller, and the bulkhead where the vents are is lower- and so it would never fit right, or am I smoking crack again?

You are on crack again the bulkheads are the same size (Randy's truck actually uses a D90 bulkhead if you followed the build). You would have to weld/screw on the SIIa style mounts to the D90 screen or use the SIII/D90 style mounts on the bulkead, but no biggy.

What about the top? Obviously there are troubles there. Hmmm... I will have to dig into this - I appreciate the help.

I do love that truck. Perfect color, perfect set-up other than a little low on the axle gearing. Needs 4.11's or even a little higher for my tastes.

Doug.

It is a series truck, don't try to make it into a Defender... It is perfect the way it is. You are coming from the comfort of a Disco to the comfort of a tractor. :-)

I actually kind of like the split screen...plus, if you get a chip you only have to replace half of it!

She'll get over it, I didn't even notice the difference when I first got into Rovers years ago.

Thanks guys - and sorry to take over this thread...

I think it's more the screen frame not being green that draws the eye to it. I agree it's cool the way it is and would hate to mess it up. As for making it into a Defender - it almost is anyway. Coils, disk brakes, updated dash all it needs is power steering (or did I miss that it already has that?)

Cool truck. If I had the $$ in hand I would already be on a plane down there.

So tempted to jump on a plane and come see this thing...... So will the heater actually warm you up driving in the cold? LOL - if it does it's no series truck anymore.

Thank Goodness! I was starting to get an idea that would certainly have me sleeping in the workshop for a long time.

EDIT: Couple questions for you, what is the top or cruising speed/how's it geared? Is it highway worthy more than a usual series truck? And is it reasonably quiet at speed? I am not real familiar with the Perky motors.
TDI D2??? Is this a Disco II TDI that you're hoping to part with? If so, I'm interested. Tell me more.
