1970's Shorland MK 3 APC

1970' Shorland MK 3 APC $20k

I'm selling a super rare 100% orignal Shorland APC for a client. He also has a Alvis Saracen I'll be listing also. Runs and drives just needs paint sanded down and re spayed inside and out. Chassis is in good condition. It has a clean UT title and was imported in 1997. These drive way better and are a 100 times more usable then a Ferret. It will carry 3 comfortably and 4 for shot trips.m

My Shorland averaged about 10-12mpg and when running right would do 55-60. Weights in at 6,000lbs. I towed mine behind my 04 Range Rover with no problems. Pretty much everything is standered series's 3 so parts are very easy and cheap to find.

I sold mine in June for $24,000 that was not nearly this original and was missing all the stuff inside the turret.

Price is $20K also comes with a coupes grand worth of spare. Im working on a list

Give me a call any time

MK 3 backround info

The bulk of Mark 3 Shorlands were on Series III Land Rovers using a 2625 cc 6 cylinder petrol engine developing 91 bhp at 4100 rpm. The earlier marks of Shorland having been based on Series IIA Land Rovers had to have the headlights moved from the radiator area to the wings to comply with export lighting requirements. Besides the export market, the armour protection was compromised by accommodating the headlights into the radiator area and no doubt also reduced the efficiency of radiator cooling. This migration of headlights to the wings always gave a rather homemade appearance. However the early Mark 3 was still based on a Series IIA Land Rover, but as these were late Series IIA Land Rovers, they already had the headlights in the wings. The bulk of Mark 3 Shorlands were on Series III Land Rovers using a 2,625 cc 6-cylinder petrol engine developing 91 bhp at 4,100 rpm. But the Mark 2 was still in production, customers who wanted Shorlands for particularly arduous terrain were offered the Mark 3. Over 500 Mark 3 Shorlands have been Sold.

Im kind of amazed not a single comment. One of the rarest rover's out there and nothing. Client is open to offers. He is also willing to stripe and repaint inside and outside if needed.

I'm guessing the armored car market is a pretty niche arena...you have to have a real want to ride around in a dumpster to appreciate. It's a fantastic vehicle mind you, and seems to be well sorted for the price. If it were an RSOV or WMIK I think folks would be a lot more vocal. GLWS!

WMIK kits are stuff to find now adays...Its the little things like the ring mount that add up and cost more then the cage.

I like the Shorlands. I really miss mine but im eyeing up a Saracen in the UK right now as can carry the whole family.

Not that is any of my business , BUT i have to ask what in hell are you going to do with a Saracen other than a Collector piece, however you said " will carry the whole family ?

Where? in the yard? I mean short of dropping the front Screen there is no way you can have that in a responsible fashion driving on a road.

BTW, bump for a nice APC

I like to take the armor to the local airsoft field and hunt children. I figure a Sarcen will scare the shit out of them.
