1961 Series II 109

So a new baby and my need to get to the offices in LA forces the family to relocate out of the Maine winters for the time being. It also means my beloved daily driver has lost its practicality with the clan back in town. It was ok with one kid but with two kids and large dog it doesnt make sense anymore. With parking and space at a premium Ive made the tough decsion to let the old girl go. Here are the specs. Figured id see if any of you guys want her before she goes to ebay.

1961 Series II 109 Pickup Cab
Includes a full length hard top and two soft tops
This truck is from Arizona and has about 2000 miles on it since a frame up restoration. Every nut and bolt was replaced the frame and bulkhead are spotless

Its got a GM 292 straight 6 with Offenhauser intake and 4bbl Edelbrock carb. This is the same set up Timm Cooper was running in his 109 pickup. It could stand for a larger exhaust manifold for increased power but right now it puts out the same power and torque as a rover v8. This is the fastest Series II ive ever driven. I updgraded it to a Series IIA tranny with heavy duty rear axle shafts.

Power assist brakes
New BFG A/T
Defender door cards
Electric cooling fan
Twin electric oil coolers for offroading and the Arizona heat
Heater installed but never used and no defrost in place
Alpine Stereo and speakers

Here is a link to some pics. Looking to get 15k for it which I think is fair for a truck in this condition. Im sure with a rover 2.25L in it and a nice high gloss Bronze Green paint job it would fetch more but I love the power and flat olive drab paint.

Very nice truck. I think the GM 6 is a great upgrade over the anemic 2.25
Good luck with the sale.

Dale I appreciate the offer. Unless youve figured out a way to put in power steering, nav,dvd ,a/c and a third row seat in the 88" Im afraid its not going to meet the families needs right now. Its amazing how spoiled weve become

Ok so I just got this "question" ebay. Its actually not a question at all. Not sure the point of this but they felt the need to tell me they are the conversion king. Anybody know who this idiot is?

'cool 109... but you're dreaming, mine would blow your off the road! Same one Tim boy copies (he's new kid on the block!) why that fan in front of Rad? Not needed... what ya need is a bigger raditor. I've build more conversions than most places combined. WCB'

John, when he sent you the question via ebay MY MESSAGE, also you get it on your email associated with your account.
Right there it will tell you the full Account name , Feedback number and location.
That might help identify the Bozzo

I would hope someone with a business wouldn't say something that stupid.

Ill go back and look.

So it was sent by someone that goes by racerman21... I cant seem to find a location but there is a photo and it looks like a young guy on a dirtbike. Certainly doesnt look old enough to call Timm Cooper a new kid on the block.

Tim is hardly a new kid on the block. Green from West Coast British is arrogant but I doubt he would pull something like that, at least I hope not.

the thing that gets me is i never said my truck is the fastest Series on the road. I certainly know that Timm has built much faster series trucks. I merely said it was the fastest SII that i have ever driven. Just a very strange unsolicited message. I dont really know the guys at WCB but I asked this person to identify themselves. Lets see what they say. I also published his message on the bottom of the listing.

Well I look him up , he is in CA, no history of ever selling anything, but his last two purchases One some MGB Cluster, and the other some D110 ROW wheels with G90 from a Rover Guy in IN, I am sure if we really want, we could find out .

But .. I think we now know...
sadly, that picture on his ebay account looks like Michael G on his Triumph .

And if I am wrong , I will MAN UP and apologize to M.G.

I looked at their website and they refer to themselves as both WCB and WCBR. Very strange.

It actually sounds more like something a dude with the initials WF would say.

"Project Defender?" And restoring a Defender or two requires a press release because...? One thing is for sure, they write terrible copy.
