Oooh nice. Where did you get the rollcage and soft top from? In house? And what tire carrier is that? The new TerraFirma one?

Roll cage looks like a modified SD cage. The rear portion looks like and SD cage and the front windshield hoop. I don't think they have any side horizontal bars like that yet so I would assume that is all custom. The top looks like it is from All Wheel Trim.

Awesome build. Post some photos of the interior please.

Actually, based on the bends, I'd say its a P&P cage. P&P has a "looser" fix, SD hugs the body better.

Canada

I am on the hunt for a very clean Defender, third one, but the regulations in Canada wont allow importation of a vehicle that was once a hard top and is now a convertible. The transport authorities would look at the basics and not the fact that it is stronger then the hard top. Sad but true. American authorities have a lot more to look at on a daily basis so it would probably get through. Just my guess, could be very wrong. I'll be watching this one for the hell of it to see where it ends up, more curious as to what different countries allow in etc. I mean really, how many vehicles roll over anyway. I've seen photos of a 110 without a cage and it was a pancake. The cage makes it a survivor but I'm positive our government sees the modification to remove the roof as a death trap. Gorgeous truck Mike. I wish I lived in the Netherlands so I could just come and get this one. On another note I'll be in Germany and Austria for three weeks this summer, maybe I can swing over and we can seal a deal on something with a TD5, 15 years old mind you.

If we did not have to pay 31 % import duties on trucks from the US I would love to buy your D90 NAS spec, they are really rare overhere...

Mike, that's tastefully executed all the way.
lots of modern bits, but doesn't look too "blinged out".

I'm curious what the Alcantara dash fabrication looks like. I wouldn't think that would be my first choice on a soft top, but if it came out as nice as those glove-leather seats you did a while back, I bet it's nice.

I picked up some surplus Alcantara on eBay that strangely enough matched my Epsom green exterior paint nearly perfect and thought for a moment about doing the dash and piller interiors in Alcantara, but ended up reupholstering the headliner in Alcantara (the actual brand, not a knock off) and while it may not be appealing to everyone, it came out spectacular and really does help with sound attenuation. There is a good reason why nearly every luxury car and exotic is bathed in Alcantara. That stuff can be expen$ive though.

Anyway, well done on the ST build.
I wish you could build and ship 20 of those a year and open a showroom in Rockland, ME (little inside humor there)
GLWS!

I know I'm asking for it, but any shots with the top all the way off now that it's completed? Those seats look fantastic. Agreed, Alcantara would not have been my first choice for a topless truck either, but it probably looks good in person!
