On route to Toronto!

Hi everyone. I introduced myself here a few months ago because I was just starting my search for a rig. I finally found what I wanted and now my 1996 ROW D90 is on its way from Netherlands to Toronto. Thanks to all the posts that helped me sort things out. I'm looking forward to contributing here once I get me feet wet (I mean that literally) with my new rig. Here are a couple photos.

Nice.
Are you going to keep the hockey stick?

You must be referring to the side decal? I will be keeping it. I really like that older look.

I am.

I like it. If it looks as good as it does in the picture, I'd keep it too.

Nice looking 90 Ryan. You are not too far down the 401 from me.

Thanks Brett. I see you are in Mississauga. I don't think I've ever seen a defender here in Waterloo so it's good to know there are experienced owners close by.

Hi Ryan,
I too am new to the LR world as you can see from my posts. In August, 2015 I purchased a 2000 110 that was imported from Germany. I live near Clifford, an hour north of Waterloo. Hopefully our paths will cross and we can say hello. Just a word from experience, make sure your import paperwork is perfect or Drive Clean Ontario will not test your vehicle. (A customs officer in Halifax reversed two VIN digits and it took me 6 weeks to have it corrected.)
I will watch for the best looking (and only) Defender in Waterloo.
Blair.

Thanks for the tip Blair. I had to do the grey market application for Drive Clean on a previous vehicle so I've got that paperwork ready to go. All the documents are getting mailed to me so I hope to have everything sorted out and ready to go when it gets here. I am very familiar with Clifford. When I was kid we got our dog there and always used to drive through there on the way to Port Elgin. Many years ago there used to be about 8 pop machines all lined up when leaving the town. We used to always stop and get one. We will have to meet up for sure at some point!

I'm not sure this is the best post to be asking. I'm very new here but I think there is lots of information on this in other posts. Good luck!

Indeed lots of info here.
You can also check out the OVLR closed Facebook page, Ryan had a few questions earlier in the year before he went ahead with this truck. Bit of a Canadian specific discussion. FWIW

Congratulations

Hey, congrats - your 90 looks to be in great condition. It's great to see Land Rovers on Canadian roads...

Not surprising! For the amount of Defenders that are supposed to be in the GTA, I rarely see any out and about in my travels. One good place to meet some other owners though is at British Car Day at Bronte Creek in Sept. Usually a good LR turn out there.

Good luck with the import and get in touch once it's arrived.

Brett
