New member, new (old) 130
Just bought myself a 2000 TD5 130 HCPU... I've spent every waking moment since online trying to figure out where to spend my money!
Just got a ballpark quote today for a new paint job with some minor body work for CAN$15k

New to this board, just want to see what a quick reply looks like. With that said that is a sweet looking ride.

I'm another U.S. resident who envies the newer options our Canadian friends enjoy.
Welcome! This is a great forum for ideas, suggestions, examples and accurate (mostly) technical information.
I agree, I don't see a need for new paint unless Mrs. Drew MUST have a different color.

Awesome combination of rides.

Did you buy it from Martin in Burnaby? If so, that's a pretty nice truck. German if I recall.

Thanks everyone!
It does look really good from far but up close it definitely needs a respray and some new back doors... I guess one could argue that a few bumps and bruises gives it some character!
I did get it from Martin in Burnaby... He imported it from Germany and was selling it as a 1999 TD5 but a nice bonus for me was that it was built in '99 but it is actually a 2000 model year truck... Something was lost in translation somewhere! It was actually ICBC (car insurer) that discovered the error based on the VIN.

They started manufacturing the MY2000 Defender mid 1999 (mine has a production date of July 1999). With the import laws here, the vehicle must be 15 years old from date of manufacture, so you're way in the clear that way. ICBC doesn't really have much of a clue about these trucks, they just transfer the info from the import docs onto the registration.
Being an early 10P model engine, you'll probably be in for an injector loom replacement and a cylinder head (depending on mileage).

Welcome to the Forum,
In my opinion, before any cosmetics addition, Try to install safety equipments, Like A roll cage or rock Sliders.
After all, You Know yourself that D130s are in everyones ( IS TO HAVE ) Bucket List before they leave earth.
Great purchase. Drive it Safe..
