New guy - Charlottesville, VA

I just bought a Frankenrover. The shell is a 1972 Series III but under the hood it's all modern - 300TDI, 5 speed, disc brakes, new axles, galvanized frame.

Here are some pictures of it: Cville Classic Cars

I'm happy with it so far. Only problem is when it comes to fixing something. I have to have a lot of different manuals laying around. I also don't feel like I belong on any particular forum. So here I am, with a sort-of Defender.

Welcome! Good to have another Rover in town! There are lots of Defenders and Series trucks running around although I don't get the impression that many are on this forum. Let me know if you want to grab a beer at some point. I'd love to check out your new truck.

Liam

What color is your D90? I've only seen one or two around here.

British Racing Green. My wife drives it sometimes and parks it at the hospital. Other than that a lot of my travels are a little north of town on 29.

Any good trails around here you like to drive on? I live northwest of town, so I try to find fire trails near Crozet and heading up to the skyline drive. Basically look on a map and find the little windy road that goes up a mountain. Although fun, I'd like to find some more established routes with maybe some technical sections. Nothing too extreme, but maybe a few rocks or mud.

Honestly, no. Everything seems to keep getting shut down. The best place around was Shoe Creek down in Nelson county. I heard that was closed, but have not verified that. I live in Earlysville and have done a little exploring along our side of the Blue Ridge but have not found much.
