New ex military 110 owner

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. As of last weekend I am now a Defender owner after purchasing an 1990 ex military Tithonus. I currently live in Germany on a temporary work assignment but plan to ship it back to the Pacific Northwest when I move back to the States next year.

This is my first Land Rover and my first time owning an older vehicle. I have little in the way of mechanical skills beyond fixing bicycles but one of the reasons I purchased the Defender is to gain knowledge in this area.

If anyone has any experience importing Defenders overseas and has recommendations of which importer to use, I would be very interested in learning from you. I have received some quotes already but would love to use someone who has a solid track record.

Can't help you with the importation part, but I feel certain that you will get your wish on the "mechanical skills" part. Just the same, it is a magnificant journey. Welcome to Defenderitis. Mind you, it can morph into the parent disease, BurmaBrightitis. Both forms are incurable, as far as I know. Just ask my wife.

Glad to have you aboard. Misery loves company.

Uncle Doug on this forum is the man to get you lined up and imported.
My advice to you now is to NOT make any changes to the vehicle's spec that takes it away from factory.
So PM Uncle Doug.
