Howdy from new Jersey

Just relocated from Houston to take a job in Newark NJ. Plan on bringing the 110 up in a few weeks.

Any recommendations on shops that will work on the 110?

Thanks,
Carlos

Where are you moving to? I'm assuming you're not relocating to Newark, right?

No, just work is in Newark. Will most likely end up in Glen Ridge or Montclair.

I grew up in Glen Ridge... lived in montclair for a couple of years and I'm now up in West Caldwell. Feel free to msg me if you have any questions about the area.

There's a good group of rover guys in NJ...

I live in NJ and bring my 1984 110 to Tim Smith Drive LLC in Redding CT. He installed my new ACR 4.8L motor last year. Tim's great. There's no one in NJ.

Not true. Rolf's in Summit. Vinne in North Jersey. Fair Haven Import Auto is well versed in Rovers and engine replacements.

I asked Vinnie to install my 4.8 ACR motor last year he declined, he stated that he will not install a customer supplied motor. You cannot even get the guy on the phone.

Rolf - I have know about for years thru the Porsche Club of America, he's not well regarded. I was interested in one of his 90's he had for sale a while back, I couldn't even get a test a drive.

Well Tommy at FH import has a good and consistent record and works on a LR's including my NAS 90 and my 110. It helps that I can walk there. If it's a major job, may want to consider shipping it south where you get a better labor rate. My 2 cents.

Tim Smith's Drive LLC rates are very reasonable.

Rolf is a good guy.

Vinnie has done some small jobs for me in the past but has recently been not wanting any of my work. Probably avoid

i use vinnie at rover specialist. he rebuilt the top end on my truck and has been running really good. also hes done my suspesion and other things here and there. his only issue in my opinion just like others have said is he sucks on picking up the phone. you need to get his cell number and that usually helps the cause. its only him there most of the time and any of the guys he has helping him once in a while are not answering a phone.

what are you looking to have done?

Oh, that's Vinnie!!! Well, he actually picked up the phone yesterday on my first try. He's got a bit of wait which is usually a good sign and he also mentioned that it's just him right now.

I'm having starter issues on the Defender and I think my wife may have blown the head gasket on her disco....again. In any case, I need my D110 ready to be a daily driver if need be and I don't have the time or space to work on it at the moment.

I'm thinking that I'm going to have to make the space and time.
