Hi from the UK

Hi from the UK.

Can not find a thread for introductions so thought I would say hi here.

Was rather sad to hear about the actions of your government agencies with impounding vehicles. Have seen vehicles suitable for export to the US for sale in the UK and some of the descriptions of so called older vehicles were plainly laughable and out to deceive people.

We have a similar problem in the UK with hybrids/rebuilds etc and the only thing old on the vehicle is the log book. All to save about 400 in road fund tax.

We have owned a few Defenders but my pride and joy is our 1996 110 300 TDi. 208,000 miles on the clock, taken us to 30+ countries. OK it is slower, noiser, draughty and lets more water in then our younger Defenders but I prefer it.

Hopefully will be able to contribute to a few discussions

Brendan

Started @ a Polish bar in a basement, then went to a huge dance club place off a plaza with many different bitters on tap. Tried a pint of each so the rest is a bit fizzy but our host then took us to the Blue Pelican, then another basement type dance club around the corner, and then a curry house around 3am.
Quite the Bradford experience. Fellow lived out past Simmonites on Thornton Rd.

It was later than 3am. And we had the Polish bar to ourselves since the fight that was going on there when we arrived pretty much cleared the place out.

yeah but can you add any detail to my recollections of that evening ?

Nothing like drinking heavily after having been awake for 48 hrs, having ridden the tube from Heathrow up to Brickendon @ 7am because our ride blew us off to stay in bed with a pro, driven 1/2 way across their little island in snow storms, collecting a trailer and two defenders, dodging snow plows and gritters etc.

Our 12 plate white 90 as we picked it up from the dealers at 6 months old. It was due to go to Sellafield nuclear power station, but now enjoys the hills in West Yorkshire.
