Hi from sunny Kenya Land Rover City

Hello everybody. I ve been living in Kenya for over 15 years now running our safari fleet of 12 Defenders. Being a Land Rover man it s the perfect thing to do.
Defenders are very common around here so our work shop is doing nothing else bui landies.
Dont want to sound patronising but i know a little bit about them so i am happy to get involved in helping out with knowledge and experience.

We started off with 300Tdi Discos years ago but it turned out the interior and body couldnt cope with African roads.
Now all Defender 110 anywhere between 1984 and 1998. Most are 300Tdi the older ones 200Tdi. Anything newer wouldn t make it in the long run. Too many sensors, computers, high pressure common rail diesels, etc.
The diesel here contains 5000 times more sulphur than in Europe. A lot of gas stations mix their diesel with cheaper kerosin to make more profit. A new diesel would give up staight away.
My private everyday run around is a 130 4 door pick up, 300 Tdi

Welcome!!!
My church pastor and his family have lived in Kenya now for about 6 years helping to run an orphanage. Their daily driver is a Land Cruiser but recently they had to be rescued by a Rover when it broke down! :D

There are some photos.
The two pick up trucks are our private runarounds. Called Silvia & Silvester. Silvia is the wife s 110. Silvester is my 130.
I have built both of them from the bare chassis. All "left over" parts from our work shop.
Both 300 Tdi one with LT 77 box the other one R380.
The group photo was taken on the rim of the Ngorogoro Crater in Tanzania on one of our trips.
