Good looking truck. Love the hockey stick decals! Heading to the BVI's in a few weeks. Looking forward to seeing a few Old Rovers

Bvi 110

Saw several Defenders while vacationing on Tortola in the BVI's. This one is a classic

Very cool. I have a RHD '85 Ninety V8 SW that I am building up to take to the U.S. Virgin Islands when we retire in a few years.

How does the 90 do down there?

Defenders I saw on Tortola

Tried to load a few pics on an earlier thread with no luck. Maybe this will work. While in the BVI's my kids and I had our eyes peeled for Defenders. I had a feeling we might see a few. I saw four over all. The Zebra was from a fleet of 6 that were being used as tour buses. The blueish 90 was parked next to the Tamarind Club were we ate for Fathers Day. I had to hold my camera over a wall to take the shot. I figured the owner wouldn't mind. It was a great looking truck for living on an island. I thought the hinges on my 90 were a little rusty but the blue 110 had a piece of clothes hanger wire for a hinge! Hardly any steel left on that one. I also saw a really nice Silver/Blue 110 that looked very custom. I could never catch up to it to take a pic. Nicest car I saw on the entire island!

There's a thread around here somewhere about a guy who found a NAS ST in the Caribbean & took it home.

Edit: The title of the thread is "Caribbean 'barn' find". By WillH.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a link on my iPad.

That's the the one! I was two cars behind it from Road Town until it veered off near Cane Garden Bay. In a sea of Mitsubishi Montero's it was a sight for sore eyes! Is it yours or do you know them?

For sure it's a beauty - Pretty much can be found at Ben's Gas Station on the West End everyday around 5PM. It's a 2006 LHD with a BMW Engine. The owner (A "Belonger") bought it cheep from Long Bay Resort prior to the going bankrupt.

How steep are the islands, and what is the maximum speed? St. Thomas is really steep & the max speed is 35, so I'm trying to decide what ratio od transfer case to mate up to my V8. Any thoughts?

it Very Steep in places, i newly rebuilt my 300TDi , engine , so i have no issues , if you have the V8 (Working Properly ) you are more the ok with that , as for the ratios , i would not go to over size with tyres ... i run 265 75 16 insa turbo special track as everyday tyres , that's a year of wear on the tyres in the pics...

don't worry about to much , Defender's are built for this...

limit is 55 here , ( but we don't bother with it )

I run 265/75/16's but the 1:2 transfer case is way too high for the USVI. I suspect a 1:4 would be fine, I can always go 1:6 when I am on-island if I have to!

I've been wanting to go to Trinidad for Carnival.
But I could find myself in some trouble there.
I lived in PR for a couple of years. Didn't have a vehicle though. Got around fine without.
