Welcome, Gianluca Gregis!
Spent 3 weeks traveling Italy, then on to Crete and Malta.
Had a wonderful time in Italy.

Ciao! I just returned back to the US from living in bella Napoli for 4 years! I was lucky enough to bring home an old Protezione Civile 2 door 110. If you're ever down south, I still have a lot of friends there with Defenders who would love to take a drive!

Hey Doc! Was stationed in Naploli (Bagnoli) a few years ago. Things I miss: Coffee, Pizza and summer scenery. I wasn't into Land Rovers back then, but wish I was. Excellent choice bringing back yours. A prossimo

Nice! I was in Gricignano di Aversa at the SS there. I miss the travel, people, COFFEE, trails, national parks, no laws for pretty much anything. I miss it a lot

My daughter was born there at the hospital. Lawless indeed! Never seen so many cars on fire. Once saw another car pushing another with its bumper around 60mph at night. No lights! I was a security driver (protection) for the USAF CC there. Got to drive a 250k car like a madman. Lol. Good times

Stationed by Brindisi in the AF and worked on the airport there. Best "paid 4 month vacation" ever.

Dad was stationed at Sa Vito Dei Normanni AS.

More or less a big ass antenna called the elephant cage with a nice golf course and skeet range.

They closed it in 91 I think.

I really enjoyed the place

Buying in Italy

What would be the best way to purchase s Defender in Italy w/out having to go there and not knowing how to speak Italian?

------ Follow up post added February 26th, 2016 09:03 PM ------

Do you know of a good source in Italy that I can speak to regarding trying to purchase a Defender from there?

I was housed on San Vito AS, but drove into the Brindisi airport to work the flightline in 1996 I think. They reopened the base for Spec Ops into Bosnia. I really loved it there...if I could have retired there...

Ciao and welcome, to the local guys ... Doc, was stationed in Naples (CAPO) for 3 1/2 years, just returned last year. I too was lucky to pick up a 110, but from the UK. Have several friends that did the same. 1 picked up a military 90 from Italy, up towards Milan and 2 others (110 and 90) from the UK.

Agreed on the above, they have the best tomatoes! Just reached out to a buddy to have him send me some espresso as we are running low. Make it every day on the stove. Coffee just isn't the same.

Sounds a helluva lot better than my time at Gutersloh in Germany.

Hard to find now the right one. Prices are going up for pre 1991.

How about someone import me some good blood oranges and some real bread from the south?

Damn I miss the food. Mostly the fruit, cheese and bread.

I remember this one older couple who insisted I eat with them after helping them unload a cart of fruit and veggies at the market downtown Brindisi. I could hardly move afterwards and the vino was home stomped and barreled. Incredible.
