Hello from a new guy!

Hi guys and gals,

My name is Allen and I'm addicted to automobiles. Brand new to the group with my 1986 LR 110 V8 Pickup. This is my first but it won't be my last. I just finished up the import process and now its time to get to work on a few projects like finishing up the interior, fixing a hole in the drivers floor, and probably some carb work. For some reason mine won't run at speed unless the choke is locked in the half on position. Anywho, I'm in Central VA, so if there are any meets or trail rides please inform me. I haven't found any of that stuff yet.

I've got a small fleet of vehicles at the moment but this 110 is by the most unique and gets the most looks and questions! Hope to see some of you around.

Edit: if anyone can drop some knowledge on me about mine potentially being ex MOD, I'd appreciate it. Its got a military green hidden under all that red paint, and a goofy distributor that has threaded plug wires. Slow as hell too.

Allen

Welcome and have fun. This is a great place for accurate information and ideas about which way to go with your Defender.

If you need to pull on your choke, I'd say you have a restriction in your fuel. Change the fuel filter first. Quick. Easy. Cheap. A rare combination when talking about a Defender.

Mike

Welcome!

Tons of great people and info on this site, including Ex-Mod stuff. I can't help on your running speed issue, but you are in Virginia, which is the de facto DefenderSource capital of the world.

Fuel delivery was one of my first thoughts, then I started thinking about how it sat for 4 years before I bought it. I'm wondering if has a vacuum leak in one of the carbs. I'll get to the bottom of it. Where do most guys buy parts? I lived in the UK for for years and brought my 110 back as a souvenier. I only bought it about 30 days before I moved home so I didn't have much of a chance to stockpile parts.
