Bristol, UK (to Washington, DC)

Hey all,

I wasn't sure if I should say hi on here just yet incase I tempt fate with my impending import, but I'm going to anyway!

My name is Gav. I'm a Brit (well, Welsh) who will be moving to Washington, DC in May. With my family, we will bringing out our early 1990 Land Rover 90 V8 county, too. Maybe with some assistance with Uncle Doug, though nothing confirmed.

I've been working on and owning Land Rovers for nearly 20 years. My last one (a '96 Defender 90 300Tdi) I owned for approximately 10 years. I think I've driven pretty much every combination of Land Rover and engine now, and I can tell you that the V8 is the most entertaining of the lot of them. Man, I'm looking forward to paying what you guys pay in the States for fuel though...

So, I'll get some pictures up soon. Right now the car is having some minor cosmetic improvements (new carpets - the first Exmoor Trim LT85 set ever! - I'm retrimming the front seats, and I've just done the cubby) so isn't looking its best!

Anyway.

Hi

Gavin - Welcome to the neighborhood. My Stage One came from New Quay, Wales.

You obviously need to find Kilroy's and the NOVA Happy Hour each month (once you get settled in).

Thanks! Kilroys - I was trying to figure out where the meet was for Happy Hour! I'll be there.

Be patient! When my *ahem* rostyles come back after banding and powder coating I'll get some photos. Right now I'm ashamed of the modulars which are on it.

HI Gavin

You should give John Robbins a shout, think he's still on here (if not PM me and I'll fling his email over), he used to live in Brizzle. Was in Avon greenlaners years back (that's where I met him), he now lives in Colorado and works for JLR.

I'm in Swindon, just down the road from you!!

Shipping is booked. Most of the little jobs I wanted to sort are sorted:

- newly trimmed seats
- full carpet set
- mechanical niggles now un-niggled
- wheels and tyres all fitted
- original cubby restored
- aftermarket radio ditched and later-model land rover one fitted
- aftermarket side steps ditched
- a-bar ditched

All that's left is a final service and check over by the local specialist and it's good to go. Should be in the US in 6 weeks!

That car is so classic late 80's ... I'm surprised you haven't color coded the wipers and installed an OAKLEY thermonuclear protection sticker in the back!

Brings back lots of memories!
