97 NAS D90...in Cambodia

I've been creeping the site as a guest for a long time, thought I'd introduce myself and my rig.

Living in Cambodia and was looking for a 2010+ Defender but ran across a 97 NAS, had to buy it. 75k miles, good condition. Whoever owned it previously put Southtown armor/breather on it. Imported here in 2004 and as far as I can tell only about 5,000 miles put on it in those years.

Had to replace all rubber since it sat so long, Garrison window seals/new starter/Sil Blades/plugs/wires/filters all enroute. 75k mile service done.

I don't know how/why someone brought a NAS here but I'm happy they did!

Here's a few photos. Pretty good shape. No oil cooler line upgrade yet but the previous owner did swap out most bolts with stainless. Have a long list of upgrades I want to do but debating sending it back to the US since I can drive/own any Defender here (ROW/Mil) with no issues. Oh, plaque number is 2171.

Please don't drive with just the rear ladder on without it attached to front rails. The flexing is not good for the body.

The wheel color is nice.

Thanks for the advice, I'll fab up some connecting spans or something. Shipping large items here is scary expensive.

Hoping to make it to Siem Reap within the next year. I really want to go to Angor Wat and the other Wats around there.

Welcome.
Angkor Wat is awesome. Went there 15 years ago. There is one part of the temple that was only accessible by 4 WD. I want to say it was Bantay Seri or something like that. Definitely work the hour drive from the main complex.

Watch out for land mines.

When I was there I went on a bout with Halo Trust. They sweep for mines. They also use Land Rovers.

Re

That's what I do here, demining. HALO trust and MAG, I work with both.
They're the main reason I went Defender, because they have parts or their contracted maintenance does.

No need for 4x4 anymore at the temples, it is all paved now.
