1988 Land Rover 90 - Raleigh NC

Hello to everyone in the Defender Source World. Just bought a 1988 Land Rover 90. Motor is a 2.5 diesel (non-turbo). Have to say it is a blast to drive, but I spend all my time in the far right side of any interstates I happen to be on.

Took a long time to get it titled here in NC, and before I could get tags for it the local police Fraud and Theft unit had to inspect and confirm that the serial number on the frame matched the number on the brake booster unit, and then put a new 'VIN" on the frame which is what will be on the title 'when it eventually arrives'. After having read what happened to some owners who got their cars imported here in NC, I guess i am glad I had an inspector who went the extra mile and documented all the necessary information!

Have spent the last while generally getting wiring issues sorted out and figuring out parts to order. So far have changed oil in front and rear differential and transfer case. Will do timing belt and transmission once parts arrive from Paddock Spares. Want to rebuild the swivels and front bearings as well.

Can anyone tell me how to start a discussion on transfer case leaks? Would like some tips on what it could be. I can search for comments in threads, but so far figuring out how to actually starta thread is a bit of a challenge...

Hi Tom. Really nice looking truck.

Go to main Defender Source forum home page. Click on topic title "Defender Technical Discussion." Once you've opened up that page click on "New Thread". It's to the left of the page numbers. Then off you go. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum. also try the search function it isn't the best but chances are the answers you seek on dang near every nut and bolt on these trucks has already been discussed. We have and event coming up in April at Uwharrie I would highly suggest you come out and meet some great Rover people, see some awesome trucks and generally have a great time.

Welcome fellow Carolinian! Nice looking rig there. You're lucky to have a large core of owners and mechanics close to you. Maybe some will chime in.

There's also several events we all meet up at throughout the year starting with the Uwharrie Safari in April http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...6-a-66687.html

Hi! I think 1988 was the last year of Trident Green, and only available on County Nineties like yours. I could be wrong. It looks amazing!

Welcome to the forum Tom! Always glad to have another member, and from my neck of the woods no less!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any issues with getting your 90 titled. I have some good experience and contacts in working with NCDMV on matters involving imported Land Rovers.
