zinc powder coating

ok guys im thinking of powder coating one of my bulkheads with a zinc rich coating. from what i can tell this coating allows a way better paint job to be performed versus galvanizing then painting.

so what im asking what your opinion on this and experience on the matter. this seems good to me but it would be my first time doing this and ofcourse i have no long term experience in how well it will control corrosion versus galvaizing.

I have had it with powder coating. In theory it's a great surface coating. In practice I have found that the slightest imperfection in the coating allows for moisture migration which then leads to de-lamination of the coating. There are far better coatings available if your chief concern is anti-corrosion of the base material. And unlike powder coating, they can be touched up easily if needed.
Bottom line, powder coating has it's place in the automotive finish world, but it's not always the bullet proof coating that many think it is.

Its not bullet proof at all, its just dry paint that you have to bake. What's good about it is that most places do a nice job of surface prep and you get a good finish. It also looks nice, and its generally much superior to the cheap factory black you get on pedal boxes etc.

How would the PC protect the inside? Unless you treat the inside of the cavities of the bulkhead, it will rust from the inside out.

PC doesn't get inside at all. You still have to treat it somehow.
