That actually does look nice even though it is not exactly stock '97 configuration. We do love our cup holders over here, though.

Yes, but two things: 1) your driver's seat is basically in the back seat already the way you have it, and 2) that's drilled into a Tuffy console, not one that costs over a grand!

Josh, I bought an Ashcroft kit for a customer's 90 about 3 years ago. He drove it about 11k and had me change it back to a manual. No issues, he just wanted to shift again. I have most everything for the kit -trans/convertor, ashcroft console, shift tower, cable, cooler hoses etc. except for the cooler (still in the car) and the transmission/frame mount. The console radio opening was modified for the a/c and ARB controls and the fuse box cover was modified for the CB radio cables.
Just FYI

I will post before and after pics of mine. PO made a custom mount and boot for the shifter, has cable linkage is handy indeed.

Here is the home made joby in my 90. I will be putting in the ashcroft console after the new year.

A home made mount and dust cover with velcro. Pretty simple. I had to remove the transfer case knob to get the transmission into 1st and low at the same time. Not a big deal, but that will be fixed with the new console.

The only thing I did not like about the console on my old '97 was the complete waste of space there was in the storage area. I actually took my console cut it off at the shift lever and hand made a box , fiber glassed it and padded and wrapped it . Available storage area quadrupled compared to stock, please don't get rid of the cup holder some of us ave very addicted to Java. I'm still looking to make some drink holder for the wifes 110.

Is that Tuffy box pushed back at all or is the shifter in the location for the manual trans shifter?

In the back of my mind when LR when OBD2 in 96 (D1), there were changes in the way the engine and box communicated with some degree of electronic control involved, unlike 95 and prior.
I could be wrong, but check before you put down the dollars!
