Xfer Case Shifter position

Hello all,

I'm putting my 110 together and trying to install random parts I have on the shelf while I do it. Today I found this Mud Defender Tunnel Tray and figured hey thats an easy one.

Notice in the photo there is no clearance for the knob. I pulled off the dust cover then the four bolts for the small shifter boot to see if I could maybe adjust the position but I didn't see any way to do it. If I had a welder I'd cut it and angle it more vertical. Whats the best way to get this work?

That looks like a LT77 Mudtunnel tray? Me thinks the R380 one sits further back?

Dibbs on the tray if you sell it

Do you have the correct try for the gearbox? That is an LT77 tray.

You could try pulling the high low shift linkage off and moving it a spline and see how that goes. Maybe someone installed it wrong. There are supposed to be marks to set which spline to use, but.....

It is the LT77 one. I have an LT77 behind my 200TDi.

Is the R380 the same shape for the pass through portion? I'm pretty sure if there isn't a simple adjustment I'm just going to hack saw the thing off and change the angle a bit and have one of the vatos in Willets Point weld it back on for me.

That's doable. let me see if I can find a schematic so I can verify i understand what you mean.

The Shifter rod next to item 44 looks straight . If mine was straight I wouldn't have a problem.

If the eyelet on the shifter rod is threaded I could spin it a couple of degrees... right?

You see the splined bit that is the top of the low/high linkage. You can move that a spline. You can also adjust the length of the linkage at the transfer case end. Yours is probably setup wrong.

So loosen blue bolt slide the red yoke thing off reposition the shifter to where I want it and close it all up? will that pin hole on the green shaft have any effect rotating a couple of degrees?

I'm guessing when the PO did the engine swap he moved the mounts around a inch or so and messed up my fancy tray thingy options.

Yes. Not sure clearance with it all in place. May also try adjusting nuts on other end.

The green piece is the diff lock shifter and just moves side to side, if that makes sense. The pivot ball is in the middle of the green part.

I haven't been able to go side to side for a while. I finally loosed it up when I put a 18 inch adjustable on the shaft to bend it. didn't work but I can now actually lock and unlock the diff!

I'll try it tomorrow I'm sure the pin that connects to the green rod has a few degrees of play in it. This should work. thanks for the idea.

The green rod does not rotate when you shift high and low. The shift lever ball is in the center of it. Does high and low shift in the correct direction? Sometimes people install is backwards.

Ahhhh. got it. So its actually the other yoke like thing next to clip 46 with the threaded body. Oh yeah I see now, that can totally rotate a few degrees.

Blue bolt out, rotate the shifter where I want it reassemble. too easy.

ok figured why not do it now:

I think I'm going to adjust 25 next. The problem is solved for now but the tooth spacing wouldn't let me put it in a position where I feel that I would be able to go into low. One extra tooth clock wise and it would hit the tray one extra tooth counter clockwise was up against the edge of the the shift tower thing. Its in the middle now and a few twists of 25 should bring it closer to the tray and leave me plenty of room to get in low. Thanks again John.
