Would like to see/ride in any Defender before buying on from overseas...

Hey folks,
This is my first post on this forum. I have lusted after Defenders for many years and am getting closer to owning one. Right now the most feasible option is to buy an exmod from Witham and ship it over. I probably will never be able to afford a NAS D90 on a government salary - and most of the 1980's models over here in the states are marked up pretty high even if they are right off the boat.

All that being said, I've never ridden in or driven a Defender. For the sake of being practical, I just can't buy and ship over one of these trucks without at least riding in something comparable. So: is there anyone in the Atlanta area who is willing to let me buy them lunch and a brew for a ride in your truck? I'm located in Fort Benning, GA.

Also - any advice regarding choosing a vehicle or importing one would be extra helpful. Thanks all.

Dave

Hahaha - yes I am... and I truly never thought that anyone would ever 'get' that ID when I picked it.

Imagine the comfort levels of an old farm tractor, combined with the rust of an old fishing boat, blended with electrics and mechanicals designed by Satan himself ... And you won't be far wrong.

Be warned ... Once you try one you'll be hooked ... Defenders anonymous won't be able to cure your addiction!

Damn that's funny. And accurate. But still what is most baffling is that last part...after my Series purchase (the first Rover) they just sort of multiplied from there without me noticing (though I assure you my wife did!).

Don't forget, leaks from the outside to inside (usually on you) and inside outside (various fluids)

I'd be interested in an Atlanta area link-up - or if the group is interested I'd be happy to host here in the Benning area. The new infantry museum is worth the drive alone. Wherever it is, first round is on me.
