Inspired by the other post from Pablo! I would say my biggest wasted upgrades are:

Bigger intercooler fitting in factory location: useless

Those cyclonic air thingies to fit into the hoses: snake oil.

WARN wireless driving lamp kit. Damned remote stopped working after a few months.

Without a doubt the steer horns on the bonnet. I took them off and replaced them with a few turbo stickers. Way faster and better milage.

Yes the bigger intercooler that fits in the OEM place sold by allisport... I got one of those too and I even forgot to mention it in the good stuff thread because I didn't feel a thing...

3.5+" lift. The most costly mod ever in the history of my rover ownership.

It's great once you get there, but the road there is painful and expensive.

The LR factory offered winch and brush guard. It looks great, but isn't sturdy.

The one I should have gotten when it was sold in the US was the TJM.

But Trek Outfitters has a pretty nice one.

------ Follow up post added November 3rd, 2015 01:44 PM ------

My second worst is the diesel conversion on my Disco.

Too costly and hasn't been as reliable as the gas engine I took out.

For the money, I should have bought a Series III 109.

"Bigger intercooler fitting in factory location: useless"

Did you guys that hated the aftermarket intercooler make all of the adjustments to the injection pump in order to take advantage of the added cooling? I have been considering this upgrade so to see it on the "worst" list is a little disheartening or liberating since it would save me a ton of money for other upgrades.

Are you speaking of the factory installed ones or the aftermarket Allisport ones?

I put in a double core Allisport intercooler, with my truck already setup with maximum reasonable fueling. It had no noticeable effect on EGTs so there was no more room for fueling or power. It did seem to reduce intake pressure loss as peak boost at the manifold went up a bit. A lot of money for little effect. I personally doubt the front mount one make much difference either. I suspect the stock one is perfectly fine....

Why? It seems like an informative thread on what not to waste your money on, unless i missed something.
