Won't start after short trips

My 110 has left me stranded on two errands in the last day. It has been running great and I drove to the mountains to ski last weekend with no problems.

It starts from cold no problem. I drove 5 minutes then ran into a store. When I came out, it would not start. I left it for a few hours then returned and it started right up. I went to pick up food last night and it did it again. Left it there for an hour and then it started.

One clue is that is seems to be idling high them goes to normal at times. TPS? Idle air control valve?

Help is apprciated. I'm afraid to drive it anywhere.

Starting problem

No. I changed the plugs (Champion Copper Plus) and the Distributor cap (genuine) last week though.

Check your ground wire and make sure it is connected at both ends. That was the source of my prob.

Starting Problem

It's still doing it. Here's a clue though. If I pull the injector wire from the coil it will start. What do you guys think?

leaking injector, flooding the engine after shutdown?

If you didn't add the last post, I would have said starter solenoid problem like Chevy's with headers tend to get.

Starting Problem

Thanks Hans. I was thinking about replacing them anyway.

What if the TPS was bad and misreading throttle position at startup?

It cold also be an ignition amplifier going bad. My amplifier started failing after driving it (warms up) short distances and initially was intermittent. If your amplifier is still mounted to the side of distributor, you might want to get the kit that relocate it to the left inner fender
