Won't always run/idle

Tetanus starts every time and if upon starting she idles at 1200 and then works slowly down to 750 she runs great and all is good BUT....... If she fires up and the idle drops down to 700 right a way or even drops down to 350-400 and then climbs back up, within a half a mile the engine will die when I come to a stop. Sometimes I will make it to the second or third stop before she dies. If I am driving down the road all is good until I have to slow up for a stop.

If she starts up and the idle drops right away I turn off the engine and immediately restart. Then she will run great.

I can hear the fuel pump priming when I start her. I changed the fuel filter about a year ago so I am thinking that I should change that but....

I was wondering if anyone had any idea where I should start looking.

Thanks,

Michael

In April I put a used stepper motor in because my old one bit the dust. She ran great for a while. I suppose it could be that. It is clean though and was practically brand new.
