Exclamation won,t start

my 95 d90 just turned 60,000 miles.so i did all the oils and a new cap and rotor.the old rotor was VERY hard to come off.during my attempt to get it off the shaft came up and was stopped the black cover that says DO NOT REMOVE.i got the rotor off and shaft was rusty.i installed my new rotor and cap but now it won,t start.any ideas would be great.thanks

Are you getting spark? Sounds like you may have messed the timming up. Does it sound like it is trying to start or does it just endlessly crank? Did you put the rotor back in the same spot you pulled it out at? (pointing the same way?)

yes i put the rotor in the same spot.it doesn 't even try to start.do you know how deep the shaft should sit in the distributer housing?thanks
