wolf lab cross bars

Im about to order cross bars from jonathan so i can use them with ski racks. He said it wouldn't be a problem to make them a bit taller to give more clearance for the skis. has anyone done this? How much taller do they need to be? Im concerned about the bindings on my board needing to be taken off every time i put the board on the truck

I wouldn't think you'd have that issue with the bindings on your board if you fold them up. What are you going to use to attach the boards tothe cross bars? I think Yakima and Thule make a snowboard mount that actually attaches the boards on an angle, not just flat.

I know that make an adaptor for the ski clamps to angle those a bit. I've used those to give snowbaords enough clearance on one side.

really good thought Alexandra, but am hoping to use a wider setup to carry more gear (usually travel with 4 boards and 2 sets of skis). I think ill need about 6 inches clearance above the top. I may just get the diagonals and call it a day, though.
