Dave, please stay on topic...this thread is about urinating in wingtops, and spiking Robert's water supply with 'shine.

Why doesn't someone fabricate template on the computer. We can then share it and make our own. You could make it so it could be printed off a regular printer.

The bending at the front edge would be the issue with just doing your "own". Other than that should be possible.

Not necessarily. We stock, sell, and install lots of the Mammouth wing-top plates and on all of them I've installed the vent covers go UNDER the chequerplate. The exception to this is Lav's SDO milled vent covers which are too thick to go under the plate.

I can't see any reason why someone would want to mount the vent covers on top of the plate...

And no - don't put foam between them. They are going on permanently (drilling holes into the wings after all) so either spray on a rubberized coating to the back of the chequerplate, or if the wings are in rough shape use a marine sealer to fill any voids (tape the wing around the chequerplate to make cleanup easier - let the sealer squeeze out and wipe off excess. Once cured remove tape.)

As to the texture - I use a matte non-skid coating to reduce glare and add texture.

Just wanted to provide some info: The Britpart wing top protectors (da4049) referenced in the thread do fit around the vent but are only 2mm thick.

The only 5 bar wing protectors (that I cold find) that fit around the vent & are 3mm are made by Masai:
