Will This Get Through Customs?

Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon USA Export 4x4 CSW Off Road TDi 90 | eBay

The car did 180k miles, then the engine got a little smokey (not really bad, but it was going to need doing), then a friend had a rear end shunt in his Defender which had a very low milage engine in it, so I made the most of the opportunity and bought the engine off him and put it in this Defender. It was cheaper and easier to get a very well known good engine and gearbox than it was to rebuild the old one. So, now this has a very low milage engine and box in. The engine and gearbox that has been swopped in was identical to the old one that came out. The log book has been updated accordingly.

Will customs clear it?

When you say identical... What engine was in it before, and what is in it now?

it left the Land Rover factory with a 19J Turbodiesel engine, and that's exactly what it's still got!
If that is the case it should be fine.

I've never stayed at one, and I have imported before, does that make me one?

The general consensus of the law that states "original or identical replacement" is that if it came with a 19J and currently has a 19J than that is still eligible for import.

But there is never a guarantee.

That should get through easy peazy. Pretty good ad, looks well represented but lacks the money shots (doors, bulkhead and frame) but I suspect the seller will have no qualms putting them up.

I pulled a 300 TDi out of my 84 and replaced it with an original model 12J prior to import. No issues. Now I just need to get the 300 back in... good luck. Nice truck.

Get pics of all lower door frames. They look questionable.

Entire front floor area needs to be disassembled, treated, painted, seals, and proper hardware. Including seatbox. Then you need proper matting or earmuffs.

Headliner is shot.

Get pics with flash of:
Outriggers under bulkhead
Rear crossmember
Floors and footwells from underside.

If it stays low price, then OK truck.
