The two piece if you can seal it well, is the way to go. My only error on the two piece was getting the S3 style top with vertical glass rather than slanted glass.

Note the large gap at the top of the door



And no gap at the bottom



Same problem as the OP

Agree, from the factory so much wrong with the defender construction. Alittle OCD and time can often improve upon factory work.
