Who needs a gas generator anyways?

Power went out recently and my backup batteries (for my computer) didn't last too long - thanks to that 20" monitor. As I rely on my PC for business I was in a jam.

Had no gas generator but that didn't stop me...

Had a 1200W DC/AC Coleman inverter that I rarely used. Well, a long extension cord out the window and down to the Tdi and bingo. Back in business! And much less expensive than a dedicated generator!

Just a tip in case some of you are ever in the same boat.

oh man Art, that's a great idea! A whole lot more class than a dedicated generator too!

Funny you mentioned this. At work on the rare occasions that we lose power our dispatchers run the computer, phone system, and radio off of an ambulance inverter. Got to love diesels

At my last job, when we lost power we would all throw cords out the windows, and fire up the cars. We had a set of inverters that we got just for this purpose, as the local powerr company was less than reliable. We would run off parking-lot power 2-3 times a month.
