Who is a clutch push rod expert?

OK how do you get the little plastic clip that holds it on the arm in place?

This clip. I can't poke in there enough to get it in the slot on the arm. If anyone has a trick, I'm very interested to know what it is.

Bill, is there not two differant styles of that clip? From what I can remember one has tangs facing outwards and the inwards. Or is mt memory fading?

I just greased it so it stuck on and stayed in place.

Someone on another forum had the same problem. They're dead easy when the engine or gearbox is out, but through the slave cylinder hole... nightmare!

I think the cure was a piece of tube, that the pushrod could fit inside,(but not bigger than the plastic clip at the end, so really "just" big enough that the pushrod will fit inside...maybe even splay the end of the tube outwards like little fingers) with the plastic clip in place on the end of the pushrod.

If the piece of tube is shorter than the pushrod, then you can "pull" the pushrod back up into the tube and trap the plastic clip at the end fairly tightly, then try to offer it up to the clutch fork and hopefully get it to clip in place.

Then simply slide the tube back off.
