white or off white?

Sounds like a bit of an odd question, but were the older rovers tops and wheels white, or an off white to begin with? Not sure if it's due to age, but my 84 110 top and wheels appear off white to me. Anyone know what color it is if it's not plain old white?

thanks
charles

I'm pretty sure it was off white. Theres not really any such thing as plain old white anyway, since even now you still get alpine white and chawton white. Are you thinking about repainting the door tops?

Right now the wheels before I put new tires on.

But once I get my door situation figured out, I might need to paint the door tops.

thanks

I think the real old ones were "Limestone" and the NAS 110s were all "Alpine" (all but one anyway). Alpine always looked really bright to me until I held it up next to a bright white...then you see how off-white it really is.

yes charles it is due to your age. they look limestone to me. some folks use rustoleum almond as a close approximation.

Charles, why not have them powdercoated? Asco in Manassas did Brian's seat box a year or so ago and were able to match Alpine white convincingly

Anyone have any pictures of limestone when new?

Tony, I might. Any idea of costs?

I'm probably going to "borrow" Gregs wheels long enough to get mine pertied up before swapping the tires, so its an option - just don't want to spend a fortune. Otherwise I'll block out a day with a wire wheel, six-pack and rattle cans, and call it done.

The place by me charges a minimum of $250 plus some small minutely charge for sandblasting. I had the whole NAS cage, brush guard & bulkhead vent covers done and it was still the minimum charge plus sandblasting. Ended up costing about $325. You probably want to take as much as possible all at once if they charge like the place I took stuff to.

Dave, I decided against galvanizing the rims. I do have a rear cross member that I want to galvanize though (ASAP). I talked to Tony and it sounds like he's not ready to do any yet, so maybe you and I should talk about getting a batch together.

They look to me exactly like limestone, same as a series truck.
