Where to put extra gauges when fitting new style TD5 dash?

Prior to switching to the new TD5 style dash I was using a mud console to hold my radio, switches and 3 extra gauges now I am having a hard time trying to find a place to install the extra gauges with the new TD5 style dash.

Speedo, tach, Water temp, Fuel, Boost, EGT, clock

Already planning to lose the clock but that still leaves me with 2 homeless gauges.

Not really a fan of mounting them on the dash in a mudpod as I do not like the way it looks.

Any ideas?

Only somewhat clean idea I can come up with is mounting them on the bottom of the center dash using a custom billet mount

you could use a gauge pod on top of the dash or on the "A" pillar. Haven't seen it done or how it would look, but it would work. I had thought about putting the gauges in the center of the console where the cigarette lighter is?

There are quite a few on eBay, do a search for 'DIN gauge'

Paul > No free space to fit a DIN setup.

Kevin > I have a TD5 dash and they do not have the free space in that are

That madman setup looks neat, not only would I retain my boost / EGT I would gain battery voltage and have the optio0n to monitor a bunch of other stuff.

I am going to send them email them and see if it will work with my 200tdi and where to buy them.

Still open for other ideas in the mean time

Can you use the Mud Console ? I thought it was similar in size and mount to the TD5.

I see

I fitted my Head Unit into a Tuffy Console a few years before I fitted the TD5 Switch Console, so I have the DIN slot free to play with.

ECR have done a Double-DIN mod to the TD5 Console, this would give you space for a Head Unit and 3 x 52mm Gauges -

I like that gauge in the dash cluster. Wonder how hard it is to tie into everything.

Depending on if you want to get new gauges you can consolidate some of the gauges, ie on my regular dash I have EGT/Boost on one gauge and Water Temp/Oil Temp on another.

You CAN use the Mud console and I highly recommend. It is way more robust than the Td5 as it has a thick aluminum "liner" or backing. In addition the supporting structure of the Mud console is a lot more solid than the Td5. You will have to hack and cut into the Td5 and essentially cut it in half and then install the Mud console "into" the the bulkhead and then build the Td5 around it.

I've got oil pressure and tranny temp on the left with both batteries on the right. There is a digital tach (TinyTach) in upper left which also gives engine hours and max RPM memory. There is Espar control in the upper right. Seat heaters at bottom.

I think it looks great and is a lot more robust and bulletproof than the Td5 console. Also a bit better organized for gauges and switches, etc.

I've got a head unit with Nav that folds out. Fits into a single DIN.

Here's some pics.

Pendy did the work but the gauges were my idea

Very nice setup John!

* What is the make of the combo gauges (website)?
* What head unit is it?

So you have the diesel fueled (from the fuel tank) cabin heater?

Westach.......www.westach.com

Kenwood

It is the hydronic so it heats the engine but it's set up in series with the heater box so it puts out heat for the cabin that way.
