Where to mount ARB Locker switches

Where has everyone been mounting ARB switches? Finally taking that plunge and would love some pics. I want to make it clean, or even hidden. I searched and have seen the Range Rover classic switches, and headlight switch trick.

Not being a smoker, I put my 3 switches where the ashtray used to go, running the wiring up behind the facia. They fit quite nicely in the modified ashtray receptacle and are out of the way; not easily hit accidentally. I have them slanted so they are easy to see from the driver's or passenger's seats. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

I cut holes just to the right of the instrument cluster on the upper facing portion of the parcel tray.
(Way to the left of the cig. lighter)
The wires easily come out on top of the tray and are wrapped nicely.

It is a nice out of the way location. (got the idea from DrAaron)
He has a pic, or I can send you one.
Carefull cutting the metal is double thickness in some spots

Here is where I mounted mine. I used a piece of 2X2 aluminum angle. I attached it with industrial Velcro. I can take the switches off if I need access to the fuse box, and the best part is no drilling/cutting. The "blank" switch provides switched power to the system instead of using an ignition hot lead. That way you do not need to have the key on to activate the lockers. Handy for changing a tire or parking on slopes or uneven terrain.

I just picked this truck up on Monday, and it came loaded with goodies! If you need close up pics of the ARB switch, let me know...

I'm really considering putting them where the dash light dimmer switch is, on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash. I've already moved the dimmer switch up above the panel. There was a blank already cut out for it there. So, now I have a perfect space for three switches. Does anyone see any problems with putting them there?

Shawn thats where i just put mine.Rear locker only for now. Youll only have to legthen the hole a little. The only issue I had is the PO modified the dash and I had to do some cutting. It shouldnt be a problem but for feeding the wire up from the console thru the dash.under the dash panel and down.

I ended up putting them where the dimmer switch goes. I moved the dimmer switch up where the blank was for another switch. Looks pretty factory. Holds the 3 switches there perfectly and no glare from the switch lights. I'll post a pic when I can take a picture.

This is what I did. If memory serves, there is space for two additional switches (other than the current dash light/dome light stuff). The hole are a little two small for the ARB switches, but my two switches are there.
I do not have a "master air compressor" switch yet, only the two (front and rear) locker switches. Right now, I unplug the compressor for non-wheeling days..... Someday..... I'll put that master switch somewhere.
But that also means that no one can play "what does this button do again" while driving (or not).

Thanks! I wish I'd known that a year ago! Any idea where to find the "old style" ARB switches? The CONTURA are rocker switches, my D90 came with a rear ARB and with a push-button switch. I like the push button better (even if it looks bulkier/non factory).

Hey Scott, if you're talking about this switch? You can buy them from EE for $70 each or from BP for $25 each. Here's the part # PRC5425.

Peace

The Contura rocker style switches can be purchased from West Marine or on ebay. Search ebay for Contura rocker switches.

That's the RRC headlight switch. Watch the boards for someone parting out a RRC and offer them $5 for it.
