I'm stoked for Raub. He is going to be so happy! Hopefully he'll take that big girl to the Expo East, because in the West - there were no ex-mods in attendance and only one series.
If there was an ex-mod there I couldn't find it. I walked all over the place. Back forty and nine - Got a blister on my foot from looking

Now I know how people felt when Josh and I were trying to get to Alaksa no matter how much my Tdi didn't want to get there.... can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks for the support folks.
We started putting the engine/trans/transfer case in as one big lump @ 3:30pm. We had to quit @ 5:30 to go to a dinner Cabell threw for us. In that two hours we have it in and bolted down, steering plumbed up (yes the hose worked fine Zack) but we need a belt.

Does anyone know the size/length for a defender 200tdi power steering belt (its very short) so we can get Rick to pick one up on his way down tomorrow ?

Need to get the steering sorted before mounting the airfilter and all the inter cooler plumbing as it wont be accessable except from underneath.

Dave thanks for the heads up on the white wire, I was assuming that was the tach signal but am glad to have confirmation. My phone apparently needs a new battery but please pm your number so we can get in touch.

What happened to the airfilter bracket latches ? Not a big deal we will use long zip ties but thought we'd ask.

FWIW

Raub has been taking plenty of pictures but says he can't post them from his Iphone for some reason.

Dave they are lever type clamps with a loop on the end. Looks like the rivets that attached them were drilled out when you had the bracket galvanized possibly.

It is just sand blasted might want to hit it with a rattle can. If I took them off I am sure I still have them but it might take a little while to find them.

Doug, not sure if you got this worked out, but I have Gates 6281MC on the disco 200Tdi, and just a number of 73x7.5 on the LR90Tdi

Also got the rear lamp guards yesterday, Cheers Mate

Its up and running. I spun it until the oil pressure light went out and then walked around to plug the fuel shut off solenoid back in and let Raub light it off for the first time around 10pm. It didn't turn a 1/4 revolution before it was running. Unlike Abe, Raub was all smiles @ that moment. All progress stopped from that point as Raub kept opening beers before we could finish one. All that's left to do is bleed the clutch to be drivable. We need to wire up the tach,EGT,and boost gauges tomorrow and put an uber tune on it before Raub hits the road 850 miles home.

I tried to get Cabell and Raub to schedule a 200 tdi drag race tomorrow after many beers and neither party would go for it. Raub has a totally different perspective on his truck after taking it all apart and putting it back together. Statements like " I'm never driving through mud again" have been coming from under the truck all weekend. He took his cross member outside to clean it and said it was 15 lbs lighter when he brought it back in.

Raub congrats. We will have to meet in yeehaw junction at night soon for a beer and drag race!!
I can't wait to see it.
Doug, I can't tell you the stress that a newbie goes through when you are caught somewhere in the universe between 2.5 na and a 200tdi. It's really tough to take a good running truck and tear it apart to put a new power plant in it. The lack of a smile was me just letting 4 months of stress out. I was the same way yesterday after getting mine up and going again after being a complete fool at the Fl rally.
