What's the Latest in Hinges?

So, I ordered, painted and installed the TD5 hinges a while back, but I'm not thrilled with them and am considering swapping for something else. I know there have been Stainless and I believe Aluminum Hinges produced aftermarket lately. What are you guys using, recommending etc? Although price will have some relation to my decision, finding something that looks good and will continue to for years to come is most important to me. Who's making the best, and what's the best place to buy them?

Thanks guys!

Ditto. Would really like to see some that don't rust, don't need to be painted, with stainless hardware and for a reasonable price....like those black ones that used to be around....except maybe cheaper....I would buy dozens of them.

Cryotec seems the best bet but not cheap.

Why hasn't anyone cast them out of filled epoxy? Seems stupid simple and they will last forever. Cripes I should do that!

Those are the ones I remember someone pointing out before on here, but Wow...

So, two more questions for you guys. I stumbled on these as well as these, does anyone know anything about them or have them? I was hoping someone could give me a first-hand review. Secondly, if I went with the first set, it looks like I could get them in Silver or Black, or I suppose paint them body color, but what would you recommend given that they're going on a NAS D110 that is Alpine White with a Black Powdercoated Cage, standard White Wheels and Black Brush Guard?

Those 2nd ones in Stainless from Smiling hound look great, might not take to painting too well, but that wouldn't be the end of the world.

anybody have them?

Does anyone know what is up with the smiling hound stainless parts?

I've tried emailing them a few times and they never answer.

As for hinges, I would love to have stainless barrel-hinges for the doors. Something rugged and defenderesque.

A barrel hinge would also allow for easy door removal.

I gave up as well...I actually started the group buy for those, but could never get a response. Maybe I'll try to buzz them again, sent a couple emails and left a message awhile back.

I bought the Rovers North set with SS bolts, etc. HAd them painted up at the local shop for 50$. Look great. I did have to dremel them down a bit near the top rear so they would fit over the channels on my ST doors.

Most people dremel the cappings. Any pics on how yours came out?

I'll take a few today and upload them... a little hard to capture where I had to grind them down as that part is against the door...

I can say that before I replaced them, I had a lot of door wobble. Afterwards, they're as tight as a drum...

I did. They looked weird on a yellow truck when they are SS. I used a bit of extra paint, put some etching primer on them, and hand painted them with a brush I stole from my 3 yo son's art kits...

I was quite a lot of metal to take off... I used a grinding wheel to start with a brace so I wouldn't slip up, then switched to a dremel when I got closer to detail level work.

I know people usually grind down the cappings, not the new hinges, but I didn't feel right cutting the door. Hinges are cheap - finding good doors are not. So I ground down the hinges... I think it turned out pretty good.
