What's the catch?

Ebay has up for auction an:
"1986 Land Rover Defender
LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 LIGHT UTILITY TRUCK DIESEL RHD 5 SPEED 86K EX UK MILITARY"
Im interested, but if the price is really low there must be a catch, right?
Anyone have experience with this situation?
I'm not so concerned about having a Genuine US spec vehicle. I'm guessing this contributes to the high value of these cars. But I am concerned about the RHD (which I'd like to convert to LHD one day). Guessing about a $4k mod and I'd still be ahead.
Also, could the term "Light Utility Truck" signify something fundamentally different in the chasis? Or would it only refer to the small Diesel engine?
Lastly, registration doesn't seem to be an issue since it's already registered in FL, right? Hmm

Thanks in advance for any input. I hope to be a owner one day

Happy driving

Reserve not met @ $5100 so I suspect it's just a low opening price ...

Truck looks pretty good - there maybe people in FL that might be willing to inspect it for you if you are serious about buying it.

Guessing this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-D...US_Cars_Trucks

1. The auction is not over yet so it will likely go higher.
2. it is still at reserve not met
3. it is RHD
4 It is Xmod and not as many people want an xmod 90
5. it is a 90
6. it has the original 2.5 NA
7. Did I mention the auction is not over yet?

Nobody in their right mind would leave an unexpired Road Fund Tax disc on a vehicle when it left the UK.
So I'd add, it hasn't left the UK yet.

Hah! I remember reading about that ad campaign somewhere.

You may be in luck tho-since it's a male model, could be a gay cabarello!!

For a gal model like that you'd prolly need a fat rail of coke a foot long (helps keep the weight down) and enough dough to embarrass Gates...

Just sayin...

Very nice pics.....

Anyway, back to boring rovers..... I've got some literature at home that I "kept" when I left the reserves, and it covers that contract number for that rover (FVE-22A-340), I'll have a look when I get home, can tell you what it would have been built as (as in, specs) and what service it went to (Army, Air force etc)

The physical disc is no longer issued as of 10/1/14 but the tax is still collected by other means. The vast majority of vehicles still display them. And they ain't cheap.
