Picked up the crank yesterday.

The block arrived today.

The only thing holding me up today is that I'm waiting on bearings from AB. My goal is to start installing the motor in the truck by Wednesday and have it running Thursday.

Sticking with 4.6. If I wasn't moving I'd be doing the 5.7L Rover V8.

If Jimmy's mentor M.A.R.S is who I think it is... I have no doubt in the 5.7

Why cant you just line bore the 4.6 and put over-sized bearings in it?

It hasn't been done yet, but he's pretty confident it will work. I'm not sure about the fuel injection.

Finally went to the machine shop to pick up my cylinder heads. They have five cats. I'm thinking about becoming a machinist.

Started assembling the block today now that I got my bearings from AB. I told the parts department that I needed crucifix seals whenever they had a chance to pull them for me. When I went to get them after lunch, I was informed that someone off the street came in and bought just one. Who buys just one crucifix seal?!?

Made some more progress today. I'm not loving this engine stand, it wants to tip over when torquing the head belts. Harbour Freight > Northern Tool. I wish I had more time and more money for this build. I would have liked to have had all of the engine brackets and fuel rail cadmium plated, but since I take this truck off road, it would probably be a waste.

I don't know if I'll get started on installing it in the truck tomorrow, but that is my goal. I'm going to try to get the front cover and water pump on tomorrow, which is always a pain. I got a used front cover since mine had a broken bolt in it.

I would never use studs. I've only seen them in use once, and the head gaskets were pouring out fluid after only 10k miles. It would also be a shame to rip the threads out of the newly machined top hat liner block...
