What would cause this?

Recently I noticed the cat was damp below the transfer box and the only wet spot was this threaded hole in the bottom of the case.

Today, while removing the oil pan, I noticed a dripping sound behind me and teams fluid started pouring out of the hole, running down the cat pipe and dripping all over the floor. What would cause this? I haven't even put any miles on it, just in and out of the shop.

R380, but that is actually the bottom of the transfer case, right above the Y in the Y-Pipe

Yeah, I'll take some more tomorrow. I can't figure out what is causing it or where it's coming from.

Rear output seal on the transmission? That'd be my guess if it's coming from between the transmission and t-case.

Looks like transmission fluid not TC oil, for the color of it I mean.

It is trans fluid, but it's coming from the transfer case. Here are some more pics.

Looks pretty dry to me, did you remove the wading plug and 17 years of dripping transmission fluid come running out?

Well, these are from the next morning. Not the best pictures, but it's hard to get a good one that's far enough back to see exactly where it is. I circled the hole it appears to be coming out of, but I don't know how or why it's coming from there. I'm suspecting the output seal as well, but what would make it just completely fail all of a sudden like that?

Clean up the pipe too, the exhaust after the cat's will cause all that oil on the pipe to smoke like a big dog.

Well, that's the weird part, the trans and t case have been out. If I remember correctly, all the seals were done, t case & tranny and the clutch is new. The leak seems to be coming from that boss. There is no fluid anywhere around it, just from that. My assumption is that threaded hole must go clear through to a cavity between the trans & t case. I just don't know what would cause such a catastrophic failure of the output seal.
