What to look for on a used Defender? Need your expertise!

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF), I have a man crush on the Defender style, I really like them! I am in the military and found one that I am going to look at very soon. It is a "1990 110 LR Defender csw with a 200 tdi".

I am stationed in Germany and the vehicle is currently owned by another Soldier (also in Germany. I can ship the vehicle back to the USA on my orders...seems like everything is lining up, the vehicle is priced just shy of $20,000

My concerns:
What do I really need to look for when I am inspecting the vehicle?
What is required to pick it up back home - this is not a US Specs vehicle.

Here's a quick overview of the vehicle:
-125,000 miles
-new: heated seats; c pillar; brakes; shocks; springs; shock towers; radiator; water pump, timing belt; lights; all five doors - new; rims & tires; shock turrets; seat belts; fuel tank and etc...

Some of the major concerns are the following: patched and repaired parts of chasis; turbo about 10,000 miles ago; center crossmember replaced & rear door "c pillar".

I am very interested in buying one of these, this one is a right handed drive version Defender, and is a four door version. It is priced within the budget of what I can afford.

What am I missing? What should I look for? What documentation is needed to take delivery of it within the USA? I don't want to buy something and not be able to enjoy it with my family back home. Thanks - Soldier.

YouTube has a series of videos on what to look for when buying a defender.

There was another service member on here who detailed the purchase of a white 110 in Germany. I will look for it.

Are there Beagles living inside the 110?
How's your german tongue?

Parts of the 200 tdi are more expensive than parts of the 300tdi.

25 years old Land Rovers are pretty much used cars!
Are you able to do the next pit stop yourself or do you need some hand?

Checklist - you have one?

I watched the videos and they were very informative! I am thinking about making a checklist - does anyone have one already made? Thanks, Soldier.

I can PM you my build list for a full rebuild if you want to think about the truck as if someone was basically rebuilding it. My best advice however is have a 3rd party look the truck over with a critical eye. It's very easy to get starry eyed when you're the buyer.

You are listing miles, is it a RHD ?
For that price you might expect a very, very clean LHD in Europe with No rust, No welding.
