Most likely the dimmer switch. Turn on the lights and flip the switch and see if your dash lights go out!

Well yes the switch that is actually there is the dimmer switch...but the wire that used to be attached to a switch of some sort was likely wired to some aux lights.

It is a two position switch for the dash lights. Center position is full bright. Push the top of the switch for position 2 and 50% dim.

That wire is part of a key pad that is some type of security code to start and prevent start of car.I guess dealership I bought it from ripped it off the dash and left it hanging over the steering column

I dont have the code for that or the stereo!

So you can't start the car or run your stereo? Hope you got a great deal on that thing. Where are you in MA?

Here is how mine looks for example. Switch on the right is for the Hella lights mounted on my bumper and linked into my brights so that when they're on, so are the Hellas (when this switch is enabled).

There were 2 blank holes under the cover from factory. The only switch in there was the dimmer which you have. It is hard to notice it work. If you want you can tuck that switch up into the dash and put in 3 new 22mmx30mm rocker switches to control other things.

Dealer should have the radio code in the system.

Just show them a registration and they will probably give it to you.
