Installing missing door seals and plugging holes. Discovered that the positive battery cable wasn't properly secured to the post. No matter. Battery needs to come out so I can add soundproofing.

Hubby (Christocat) taught me how to replace the brake pads today! Who says you can't rock a red lip while scrubbing off dirt and rust with a wire brush?!?!

Full disclosure...I need to work out because I couldn't get the dang tire off by myself. :/

You don't need to work out. What you need to do is position the lug wrench so the end is close to the ground. Next, squat down, hold the lug wrench end with both hands, keep your arms straight, then stand up while keeping your arms and back straight. Easy.

Or just jump up and down on it and or kick it.

Hahahahaha I got the lugs off fine... Just couldn't get the stupid tire itself off!!! I know they aren't feather light or anything, but geez... My upper body strength leaves something to be desired. Or I wasn't doing it right. Either way, I'll get there! Next stop.... Oil change! I really wish I'd learned how to do all of this sooner! Better late than never for a new hobby, right?

My daughter just got her license..so I bought her a stick shift vw golf.. Part of the deal was that as soon as she got her car she was to come to my shop and we did a complete service and I showed her where everything was and how to check it.. AND I made her change a tyre... Twice...and she learned how to use jumper cables correctly... She had to jump start her friends car the other day and she called me all pissed off because she says I forgot to tell her that you can't touch the two cables together... Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way..she won't do that too many times again..lol..

And congrats on your own handle...

Before getting into rovers, I restored Ducati singles from the 60s. My young daughter helped me with everything. By the time she entered high school, she could've rebuilt dell'orto carbs blindfolded, split cases with one hand, all this from a 5 foot 95 pounder. The downside, guys worshipped the ground she walked on...

My daughter started driving in May; the day she got her license I made her change a tire with me and learn to use jumper cables.
Two days later, a FedEx truck hit her rear tire and punctured it. Through the tears, she directed one of the school teachers (driving by at the time) on how to change the tire on a Disco 2. The teacher commented on how surprised he was that my daughter knew where everything was, the jack point, and how to change the tire. She told him 'my dad loves me, so he made me learn'. A proud moment.
We could probably start a daughter's stories thread... I read some really good stories in various threads. The daughter sneaking out and dad making police drive her home was one of the best...
